Ibrahim Abdulla Al-Obaidli

Finance

Ibrahim Al-Obaidli joined Al Jazeera Media Network in April 2015 as the Executive Director of Finance.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Qatar University and has completed his leadership programme from the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France.

Prior to joining the Network, Al-Obaidli was the Executive Director of Finance and Procurement at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy; a multi-billion dollar project which will host the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Al-Obaidli’s in-depth knowledge in the business practices and finance standards comes from more than 20 years of solid experience; starting from his junior post and rising up the ladder to leadership and management roles. He joined diverse organisations such as telecommunications and government institutions and is currently in one of the biggest media establishments in the world - Al Jazeera.

In his position as the Executive Director of Finance for AJMN, Ibrahim Al-Obaidli upholds and demands the highest standards of ethics, leadership and teamwork in his division. 

He continuously reviews to improve the process and ensure that functions in the Finance Division are streamlined and implemented effectively. Similarly, he expects the Network to be aligned with the latest rules and legislations enforced by the several accounting and finance international institutions, both locally and overseas.

Al-Obaidli also provides leadership for the broader Network as he performs the necessary communication to obtain its funding and oversee its allocations. He mitigates financial risks and leads the cost optimisation initiatives of the Network, both at its headquarters and regional broadcast centres around the world. 

Moreover, Al-Obaidli is a strong believer in being a business partner and actively supports other divisions while the Network navigates changes in the media industry.
