Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani
Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Qatar University. He graduated in 1987.
In the same year, Sheikh Hamad started working at the Ministry of Information and Culture. He took up several media-related positions and participated in many training courses and forums in Arab and other world countries in the fields of administration, journalism and audio and visual media.
Sheikh Hamad was later appointed Head of Media Affairs at the ministry. In 1992, he occupied the post of Assistant Undersecretary for Media Affairs.
In 1995, Sheikh Hamad took up the position of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information and Culture, and in 1996 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Al Jazeera Satellite Channel [Al Jazeera Media Network].
In 1997, Sheikh Hamad was appointed as the Chairman of Board of Directors of Qatar’s General Authority for Radio and Television, and in 2009, he became Chairman of Board of Directors of Qatar Media Corporation.
Sheikh Hamad has represented the State of Qatar in many Gulf, Arab and international conferences related to the field of journalism and information.
